It’s been a busy, crazy week with Mother’s Day, but I wanted to put together something fun in anticipation of the release of Warner Bros.’ The Great Gatsby movie today. In my former life, I worked as a marketing director at a big Hollywood studio, so film still holds a special place in my heart. If you’ve seen the movie trailer, there are some visually stunning scenes. Of course working at Flower Muse, I love the scene in Nick’s cottage that is FILLED with orchid flowers. How nice would it be to have a room of your house look like that?
With buzz flying around the movie, Gatsby-inspired design and style is everywhere and I wanted to share with you my favorite finds inspired by the by-gone era of the roaring twenties with its flapper girls, bootlegging, and partying:
FOR A WEDDING: (1) Get engaged with a vintage Art Deco style diamond ring via Etsy (2) Just like Frank’s cottage, blanket your ceremony with orchids (3) Set the theme of your wedding with these art deco style letterpress invites from Bella Figura (4) Get movin’ with “Dance Instead of Walking” shoes (5) If you have $200,000 handy, you can get the same Tiffany’s headpiece that Daisy wears in the movie…(6) But realistically, a more affordable and still elegant, yet subtle Amanda Judge hair clip will do just as well (7) Be vintage glam in this BHLDN dress FOR THE HOME: (8) Bring the garden party inside with hydrangea filled mint julep cups (9) We can’t all indulge in a champagne-fueled fete, but you can imagine it with this vintage poster (10) Maybe we don’t all live in opulent mansions, but you can get a little bit of art deco style with this Skyscraper Vase (11) Sip bubbly from a champagne saucer like these from Kate Spade and…(12) Serve them up on this “Debonair” circular tray FOR FUN: (13) Hide your pearls in this hideaway box that looks like a copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s book. Inside is a cheat sheet of who is connected to who in The Great Gatsby (14) Cool down without any guilt with Mint Julep Frozen Yogurt, recipe via backtoherroots blog (15) Adorn your head with a cloche style hat from Louise Green (16) Feel soft fabric swish around you as you dance the night away in this flirty dress (17) Embellish something with feathers (DIY gold and glitter dipped feathers via Bridal Musings).
Hope you had as much fun reading this as I had putting it together! Don’t forget to check out the movie!
