It’s the start of a new year and we’re excited about all the new things we have planned for Flower Muse this coming year! 2013 was great, but I’m predicting that 2014 will be even better!
To start the year off right and get ourselves organized, we’ve made a downloadable free desktop calendar that we wanted to share with you, (starting with January 2014 of course)! Pictured in this first month’s calendar are carnations.
First off, carnations are the January birth flower so they’re a natural fit for this month. We often hear that a lot of people just don’t “get” carnations and I completely understand why they get such a bad rap. Who doesn’t remember eyesore arrangements from the 80s and 90s that just didn’t do carnations any justice! However, when used in creative and artful ways, carnations can be absolutely stunning and they come in such a wide array of colors (check out the ones we have here). Also check out our Carnations Pinterest board for some inspiration! When arranged right, carnations can make a great substitute for flowers like peonies!
The carnation that we’ve chosen for this month is a two-tone carnation with light purple and lavender colors that is a close match to Pantone’s color of the year: Radiant Orchid. If you haven’t seen this color yet, below is my favorite image that shows an array of objects that match Radiant Orchid:

We’ll be sharing more inspiration soon on this color of the year and you can look forward to a new free desktop calendar each month for you to download featuring a different bloom. It’s a great way to brighten up your workspace and have something pretty to look at!
We wish you a great start to this new year and let us know if there is anything you want to see on the blog or any particular flower featured as the calendar image for another month. We love hearing from you!
