We recently looked at what flower colors are searched for the most online and do you want to know what tops that list? Purple Flowers! It was surprising to us as our top selling flower colors are pink, blush and white. But if you think about the history and symbolism of the color purple, it’s not surprising that it’s a popular choice too. Purple has long been a symbol of royalty, a color previously reserved only for kings and queens because of the difficult and expensive process of making purple dye. Thank goodness nature gives us plenty of purple flowers and we’ve rounded up our favorites in today’s color board!
We’ve already shown you our favorite lavender flowers, so our list of purple flowers shows you blooms with a deeper purple color from violet to plum-toned shades. When we pulled this board together, it was hard to narrow down the choices to keep our board from being too large! There is a wide variety of purple flowers in all shapes and sizes – from ball-shaped allium all the way to delicate sweet peas.
With fall coming up, rich purple tones are perfect for shifting the mood from summer to fall. I love pairing shades of purple flowers with burgundy tones and seasonal greens to celebrate the cooling weather (though in LA, it doesn’t REALLY cool off until late October, sometimes November!).
If you want to see more purple flower inspiration, you can check out some of the DIY tutorials we’ve posted that use a range of purple flowers like mini calla lilies, anemones, tulips and more. And if you’re planning a wedding or event with a purple theme, we hope you find this color board helpful (and check out all our color boards for more inspiration!).
Always remember, if you need help choosing flowers or have questions on what or how many to buy, we are here to help! Wishing you a purplicious day!
